WHAT IS A CUSTOM ?
What is a Custom? Weather you're dealing with Action Figures Maquettes or high end collectibles like
Statues and bust or even Guitars a custom is just that a custom.  One of a kind and no one exactly like it.
An original artist representation created possibly using other or several other sources in combination to
create something NEW!  Artist and hobbyist take from other Artist in different ways by using pre
existing Figures Statues Heads Arms spare parts custom made parts and add on additions Just about
anything can go really, there are NO RULES! Whatever gets the job done! Every job is different and you
can always improvise or try new things. It is an art almost in of itself. Once you have what you need you
can rearrange parts and Figures and make any changes and prep the project for a complete new paint job.
It the case of my statues for example they may be completely unrecognizable from there original
condition or base but if you cleverly use what you have and add on what you need and with enough
modifications practise skill time and elbow grease almost anything can be done with a little talent and
experience added.
The idea is to choose a good base for your project. For example if you want to make a Wonder Woman
Custom which is a much better choice for your base? The She-Hulk or the Hulk? Well you want a female
and size and look wise the She Hulk gets you on the right track. Now you have to change the uniform and
add on the things Wonder Woman would have and keep in mind there is no road map to success. USE
YOUR IMAGINATION! That's the name of the game! You can always ask fellow Artist and Customizers
for advice and read some really good books and joining forums can be useful and always help but always
try to come up with your own idea's and show the world what YOU have in mind. It's always great seeing
something new for the first time. If your starting out you could try doing something someone else did to
make it a little more easy at first but once you get a feel for the game let's see what you got? There's
lots of Customs out there if you really start to look and many who can offer this service but finding the
really great customs that fit in with your current collections are the desired ones. Can you're Custom fit
in with others in it's collection or even sometimes we witness Customs that even go beyond what we could
hope for and outshine attempts by top manufactures. It will take time but if you have the passion and
desire you can maybe create the next great thing People have not seen. It is rewarding and fun for
everyone involved. Some really great Artist got there start to other careers freelancing and that's always
been one of my goals and customizing to me has become almost a way of life. It's a great fun and a fast
growing community of customizers and artist. I'm gonna expand this to eventually host video's and clips
and have links to other sites columns and reads. Links and tips on to what magazines forums and shops are
great for advise and learning. I will have photo gallery's showing projects as they unfold with video clips
and instructions. I want to make the information free and help support others interested in this hobbies,
craft, and adventure of customizing.

I sign and date all my collectibles and only use originals for bases or parts if they are not of my original
creation. I never support re casters or the use of fake or bootleg re casted molds or collectibles or parts
that steal from the  profits of Artist Sculptors and manufactures. We have to respect the game! If we
support that we lose because the lost profits result in less stuff coming our way and takes jobs and money
from the family of Artist and creators who create the awesome work.
All parts I use come from original producers so only the proper People will profit from the sale because
if you use the parts but make sure it has come from the original product the sale benefits the original
Artist and hopefully his success gets him his next job and us collectors and fans get to get something new
for our cherished collections. So many great products were lost or fell out of production because of lost
profits. When re casters can sell inferior products to unaware consumers but at a fraction of the price it
makes it hard for the original properties to compete and so there may not be a next time for future
products. If you use products for your project try to support the original manufacture as it helps the
circle as a whole and our field continue to grow.   Thanks and stay tuned for more!  The Chameleon
