SUPERHERO SHIT OR GOLD ?
Super hero shit or gold is Chameleon Customs breakdown of major motion Super Hero movies spanning the last 30
years. Here's how it works. There are 2 categories SUPERHERO SHIT or SUPERHERO GOLD. Every movie will fall
into one of either two categories. There is no middle ground! The breakdown starts from the oldest first and works
it's way to the present future. I will give my reasons and leave it open to the fans to discuss and add some reader fan
polls later on so everyone can weigh in. This is gonna be fun ;) so let's go shall we Ladies and Gentle men.
Let's begin with the man of steel SUPER MAN 1978 starring the late Christopher Reeves and directed by Richard Donner. This is a movie like
most I've watched dozens of times since it came out way back in good old 1978. For it's time this movie was as ground breaking as any movie
could hope to be. In a time with no fancy CGI to aid things were done old fashioned. This movie still to this day works! Why? Christopher
Reeves was born to play Super Man and was nothing short of BRILLIANT! It also featured Gene Hackman , Margot Kidder , Marlon Brando ,
Ned Beatty , Valerie Perrine , Glenn Ford , and Jackie Cooper. Great story telling direction and actors suited and placed well in there roles,
this movie remains a classic that is 30 years later still as exciting as it was then and never will become outdated. It remains a classic by which
all others are compared. I could go on and on about this Master piece but we just are gonna go ahead right now and give this two thumbs
WAY up rated top notch as first class SUPERHERO GOLD !
SUPER MAN 2 Released June 19th 1981. Both movies were filmed almost entirely together and showed the return of Reeves as the man of
steel this time up against the wall and out gunned three to one against the bad guys. This movie showed us a epic battle that People are still
talking about today between Super Man and three of his adversaries that all had the same powers as he did here on earth under our yellow
sun. As if General Zod , Non , and Ursa weren't enough we still had Lex in the mix. We seen it all mind blowing effects REMEMBER it was
1980 ! We witnessed the fall of Super Man reduced to a average Joe like us just so he could reclaim glory in the end and save Lois Lane and
Jimmie Olsen and the rest of the world in the process from certain inhalation and doom. Richard Lester jumps on as director but fear not it is a
fantastic sequel Better then the first movie with many more orgasms. To this day this movie ROCKS! We still are flying first class
SUPERHERO GOLD !
SUPER MAN 3 1983 seemed almost doomed from the go. How could those two movies be followed up? Richard Pryor ?
Pryor played Gus Gorman and this movie remained entertaining with Lester still in the director seat but it was let's face it a let down. The first
Two set the bar too high unfortunately and the magic seemed to be going out. REMEMBER no middle ground here in this debate so thou it
had it's good moments and some humor I have to put this in comparison to the others in the category so...
SUPERHERO SHIT !
Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987) NEW! Director: Sidney J. Furie jumps in and the magic is now truly lost and we are running uphill
and there is not much to talk about anymore because I would rather watch the first two again forty five times in a row. In a contest with no
middle ground this bird fly's over the radar and signifies the end of a great run for a long while anyway. SUPERHERO SHIT !
SUPERMAN 5 (not really) A total new fresh start thou and we fast forward to June 30, 2006. SUPERMAN RETURNS appropriately titled
casts Brandon Routh as the New Man of steel. Fans are excited to see the return with new technology and major advances in computers and
CGI effects. This movie did things the other movies just simply couldn't even dare to try. Play fetch with planes carrying space rockets , block
bullets with your eye ball and all that kinda cool stuff that old fashioned movie making just could not pull off realistically. Flashy and sleek and
with a more modern look. This was a good movie and I bought the DVD. The story was pretty good and messed around with the idea that the
Man of steel could have possibly fathered a son. We put cyclops in the mix! Well in a way but there was no real connection to the X-Men
famed character. Brandon Routh a new comer was in good shape and cast as the NEW Superman but something about him didn't work for
me. He lacked the presence of Reeves and to me in a kind of way just seemed Gay. I don't know his personal status and he maybe was not
gay I don't know? His rather boyish good looks seemed much suited to play Super boy then Superman thou.
All in all thou I seen it and enjoyed it and it was nice to watch the DVD again when it was released. Despite the advantage it had with
advancements since the 1978 release and with a WAY bigger budget it almost seemed like it failed but in comparison to the grail of Superman
movies it still rated good and was worth the time so it fly's in SUPERHERO GOLD !
HOWARD THE DUCK 1986 not really in the class of Super hero Howard was a joke and thou it was called one of the worst movies ever
made by most I looked at the positive, was there any? This was way before Marvel had any value in the Movie world I mean come on they
were shopping Howard the Duck around with legal tie ups over the rights to real properties like Spider-Man and considering this movie was
made with a budget of eighteen dollars and forty five cents it featured Lea Thompson in her prime and I was in love with her at the time and
she was VERY EASY on the eyes;) Despite the fact it had no re watch value I am surprisingly gonna rate this SUPERHERO GOLD ! It was
Howard the Duck! Come on what did you expect and considering the budget didn't go over twenty bucks I didn't have the heart to rate it any
other way.
BATMAN 1989 Was a Academy Award winning movie that took the world over. In 1989 Nothing was bigger then Batman. Although other
Batman movies were officially done earlier, this was really considered the first real major motion picture with a real budget. D.C. Had fallen
from grace with Superman 4 and needed to get back on track and they did just that. Direction was headed the right way this time Directed by
Tim Burton this movie was considered a dark tone for it's time and that was all Tim who did a Fantastic job and was the brains behind this
project. He had constructed a complete Gotham city and had a very good look for the movie and even the Bat mobile was a Real working
vehicle thou it was filmed to appear it could travel much faster then the first one actually could. The Score for this Movie was the best since
Superman and really was to this day one of the best. The music alone made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Michael Keaton as
Batman? Mr mom? I mean everyone thought what the hell? It was a joke right? Tim pulled it off. We felt him HE WAS Batman and very
Humanistic-ly Tim and Keaton created the character and the artistic designs for the suit along with everything else were right on and fresh
and looked great on 1989 movie screens all across the world. People went Bat crazy! Of course Jack Nicholson was cast as the Joker and
although the movie was a HUGE success I really always thought his role was over rated. It's not the Joker I wanted to see and like the one
we will see in the Dark Night coming out this summer played by Heath Ledger. I mean the Joker is suppose to be crazy a psychopath worthy
of all Batman's time and energy. Nothing about Jack's fat old ass really scared anyone with all his goofy clothes and goons following him
around. It seemed corky to me but it worked and really help set the course. Big stars always seem to be cast in big movies and get paid lots
of money because of there name. There roles seem fake, unwarranted and where a person of much less fame could have been used to do
just as good of a job. The Joker died at the end and I am glad they didn't set him up for a costly return in the sequel. None the rest Jack was
a star so was everyone involved in this movie from the director down to the end credits so this Bat movie definitely comes in at SUPERHERO
GOLD !
BATMAN RETURNS 1992 Was obviously a highly anticipated follow up to the first award winning movie. We kept Director Tim Burton and
updated the Bat-mobile brought back the loved Michael Keaton to reprise his roll as the Batman and we upped the anti this time around with
two villains Catwomen and the Penquin played by Michelle Pfeiffer and Danny DeVito. I loved DeVito as the Penquin a fantastic job done and
a well developed character and I felt he out shined Jack by a mile. This Movie kept the juices flowing and was great in it's own right. It
delivered what fans hopped for and from the start delivered a great score , great actors , great effects , great looks , and a great director. It
was on par with one and lot's of People like myself thought it was better then one. Bat comes in again at SUPERHERO GOLD !
Batman Forever was an Academy Award-nominated 1995 film but something was really REALLY wrong. Lots and lots of Money and Big
name stars and feeding off the success of the first two films helped cover up the problem for awhile and fooled People a bit. First off Tim
Burton is replaced as director by Joel Schumacher who in my opinion is the worst director of all time for these kind of movies. Don't worry if
you don't quite hate him yet you will by the next movie. They replace Keaton as Batman well maybe no one will care because it's good looking
current popular tabloid star Val Kilmer who is not a bad actor he just is not Batman after Keaton especially. They stack it up real good with
stars thou Val Kilmer , Tommy Lee Jones , Jim Carrey , Nicole Kidman , Chris O'Donnell , and that brings People in even thou these People
have no business playing in these roles. I love Jim Carrey and he was not the real main villain here it is Schumacher. Compared to the first
two films this movie is bad but compared to the next movie it is actually great? We will call this what it is and move on SUPERHERO SHIT !
BATMAN AND ROBIN 1997 I can't even wait SUPERHERO SHIT ! SUPERHERO SHIT ! Now they have just plain started to offend People.
I thought Val Kilmer was bad until they put George Clooney in the Bat suit. This is now a official disgrace and joke. Former Terminator and
current California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger is placed as Mr. Freeze along with Chris O'Donnell , Uma Thurman , and Alicia
Silverstone they all team up with director Joel Schumacher to create what might be the WORST Super hero movie of all time. Now they bitch
slap fans with bat nipples , bat buns, bat skates, and bat girls. Schumacher should have seriously been put to rest for the misery he has
caused. People caught on by now and it's all over until BATMAN BEGINS helps to stops the perfused bleeding. Just in case I forgot to
mention it this movie comes in at SUPERHERO SHIT !
BATMAN BEGINS 2005 It's been 8 years since anyone is even allowed to say the words BATMAN MOVIE at the same time and not be shot
on sight. They owe us BIG TIME ! Lucky for us they make up for the monstrosity and put out what might be the best Super hero movie ever
made. A fresh start with Christopher Nolan as Director and Christian Bale staring as Batman they make one hell of a kick ass movie. Fans
find God and it's done right and this movie lives up to the hype. Perfectly cast actors, killer effects, excellent story development, great writing,
great artistic design, everything is really done great for this movie and the only hope for knocking this juggernaut off it's throne now is it's own
sequel THE DARK NIGHT coming this June.
I make sure this is clear too SUPERHERO GOLD ! SUPERHERO GOLD !
BLADE is a 1998 film starring Wesley Snipes as the day walker vampire hero BLADE and Stephen Dorff is his nemesis. Two sequels, Blade
II and Blade Trinity, were subsequently produced and released. Each one of these movies was slightly better then the first I thought and were
all excellent! It's a shame Snipes will be in Jail for the next three years. This was a great series of really a B side character so kudos's to
everyone involved. I enjoyed all three of these movies and figured they all rate in the same class. They evolved nicely with a great twist.
They have a horror appeal that's mixed very well with the Superhero genre that has a over the top intense action style and fighting scenes
that move together nicely. Blade is quietly becoming a classic already and this makes it easy times three SUPERHERO GOLD !
SPIDER-MAN 2002 Destroys box office! Makes history , and sets more records then Hue Hefner pops Viagra.
No sense in farting around here SUPERHERO GOLD ! Director Sam Raimi knows what he is doing the only thing he did not do was beat the
shit out of Joel Schumacher. Fans love this guy for what he finally brings to life on big screens around the world.
SPIDER-MAN Starring Tobey Maguire and Willem Dafoe as the Green Goblin , Kirsten Dunst , James Franco , Cliff Robertson , and
Rosemary Harris. This movie makes Marvel a company that filed bankruptcy not too long prior a overnight sensation and leads the path to all
kinds of great movies that would follow for all there properties because of the success of SPIDER-MAN. AMAZING YOU BET! My only
complaint was the Green goblin costume design. It looked like a green power ranger or something and looked just a bit Goofy and covered
up Willems efforts. I would have liked a better design but other then that Tobey was great and made you believe he was Peter Parker first so
then when he slips into the great Spidey suit and he rolls out with the KILLER CGI effects that the team of artist creates, it's lights out ! What
fans have been waiting like 50 years to see finally can happen realistically because of the current computer technology. It's captivating
visually and even surprises People for it's story and depth. Hey story telling has been there thing from the start so dance with who brought
you here. Real good shit or should I say Gold. Thanks Sam !
SPIDER-MAN 2 2004 Director Sam Raimi and producers Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin continue the story and with the same characters learning
from mistakes in movies like BATMAN which had 3 different Actors play Batman in four films. Actors are locked in for sequels and are back
for more. It grossed over $783 million worldwide, and won an Academy Award for Visual Effects. The film's success led to another sequel,
Spider-Man 3 which introduced Venom and came out in 2007 and like the first both come in SUPERHERO GOLD ! I don't think Venom
should have been talking in the third film and him and the Sand Mans teaming up was kinda quick and coincidental but there was too much
done right with this to ruin anything for fans, they loved it! Talks are going around about a fourth movie but Marvel is too busy with success to
even keep up and we have not even mentioned most of there movies.
If SPIDER-MAN was the knock out punch for Marvel X-MEN was the stiff setup jab. X-MEN 2000 Directed by Bryan Singer was a REAL
WINNER! It was the first movie to really have success for the company and it did so with this movie not having much budget wise to spend.
They were smart and didn't waste the money they did have thou on costly BIG NAME no good actors. Unknown really at the time was Hugh
Jackman cast as Wolverine a fan favorite along with Ian McKellen , Halle Berry , Famke Janssen , James Marsden , Tyler Mane, Bruce
Davison , Rebecca Romijn , Anna Paquin , and Ray Park all help make X-MEN a huge success that might not have at the time seemed that
had a huge short term pay off but was Gold in the long run.
Fantastic artistic direction with Bryan Singer not only makes this a good movie but set the scene for what would be a GREATER movie
X-MEN 2 X-MEN UNITED in 2003 is one of the best Super Hero movies of all time. A little more to spend this time around helps this property
really shine. It tells a great story and it's put together very well. My only beef has been Storm I don't like Halle Berry at all for the role and
considering what she is fetching on top of that she was a real STICK OUT WIG AND ALL! PROFESSOR X and MAGNETO are perfectly cast
and seem born to play the roles they do work so well together.
X-MEN 3 THE LAST STAND 2006 is meant to be the last in the pack and help to move characters like WOLVERINE and MAGNETO into solo
projects. Fans loved seeing ICE MAN ice out for the first time and appearances by several others including BEAST , ANGEL , and
COLOSSUS. Weapon X may be a spin off but whatever comes of it the category for all 3 X-MEN movies is sure SUPERHERO GOLD !
THE PUNISHER 2004 Produced by Avi Arad and Gale Anne Hurd Starring Thomas Jane as the Punisher also had John Travolta, Rebecca
Romijn aka MYSTIQUE from X-MEN fame, Will Patton , Ben Foster, Roy Scheider, and Laura Harring. This was a very low budget movie just
over 15 million dollars but I thought did very well. Thomas Jane was Awesome and got into really good shape for the film. The Russian fight
scene was excellent! The story was really good they did not try to sugar coat it and showed just what would compel this Character to want to
PUNISH EVERYONE! Travolta Was the BIG NAME but he did really good and fit the role he was placed in. I like the Punisher and
considering the 15 million dollar budget this movie although was not considered to be a blockbuster type movie was great
conclusion...SUPERHERO GOLD !
GHOST RIDER 2007 Starring Nicholas Cage as Johnny Blaze had a budget around 110 Million and was one of Marvels lesser known
characters in the main stream public. This was a tough one for the CGI team I know it and thou Nicholas Cage was a so called BIG NAME
ACTOR he was cast in good faith and fit the roll pretty well and the movie was pretty good, Not great but Keep em coming it just makes it
SUPERHERO GOLD !
I am gonna do a few together here to save time that should give you a clue already where this may be headed. DAREDEVIL 2003 starring
Ben Affleck , Jennifer Garner , Michael Clarke Duncan , and Colin Farrell was not good. BEN AFFLECK IS NOT A SUPER HERO! If your
gonna cast BIG NAME BIG COST actors you will get harsh reviews if you stink and he smelled REAL bad. Halle Berry had to egg me on
some more after X-MEN by doing the shoot me in the face flick titled CATWOMEN nuff said! The FANTASTIC FOUR Such a shame this is a
great property and comic book that Stan Lee and Jack Kirby did so well they were so well loved so what happened? BIG NAME ACTORS
happened. Ioan Gruffudd was not bad but he was too young for REED RICHARDS and there are bigger problems here anyway. Jessica
Alba I love as much as the next guy but sadly she is not SUE STORM. The movie was too comical and the sequel had so many including
myself pumped with the SILVER SURFER being introduced but I even realized the shinny guy alone couldn't hide the fact this project is long
lost. The Thing needed way more attention in the development department and was neglected in the CGI department where they were
needed way more because of the TORCH'S obvious requirements maybe I don't know why. Doctor Doom's tone needed to be darker, in all
this movie franchise came across as cheesy and typical and seems like they let anybody make these decisions which are ever so costly in the
end to the profiters and fans. Anyway sad to say that the last mention here ELEKTRA 2005 might be the best of the five mentioned and that
really tells you something don't it. Looks like we are getting a bit sloppy and coloring outside the lines here a bit to sum it up all these movies
get
SUPERHERO SHIT ! Notice I did not mention ANG LEE'S HULK ? It belongs here YES IT DOES but I know marvel fixed this mistake and the
proof is coming next month so I am gonna wait.
300 is a 2007 film adaptation of the graphic novel 300 by Frank Miller so it makes the list even thou they are not Superheroes YOU TELL
THEM THAT! This movie is one of the best of all time that simply is in a class all it's own. The fighting style and scenes in this movie are like
nothing you have ever seen before they are all woven together so unbelievably artistically horrifying it's AMAZING!
Based loosely on a true story the tail of Sparta will be remembered for a long time and I can't wait for the sequel. There is talk of a MASTERS
OF THE UNIVERSE movie so if it can incorporate this style and get the look right that will be like this movie surefire SUPERHERO GOLD !
TRANSFORMERS 2007 Directed by Michael Bay Produced by Steven Spielberg Starring Shia LaBeouf , the ever SO HOT Megan Fox ,
Josh Duhamel , Tyrese Gibson , and Jon Voight had a budget of a little over a 150 million dollars and looked like every penny of it too. This is
no secret easily not just one of the best super hero movies of all time but of all movies of all time period. Ground breaking special effects and
real artistic designers, concept artists , and brilliant People all around are used together to make a movie so damn good it's not even fare to
the competition if there is any. I was not a big TRANSFORMERS fan really before this movie but with Bay and Spielberg I knew this was
gonna be special. The effects in this movie were unbelievable and have to be seen in the theaters to really understand how amazing they
are. Fantastic artwork done painstakingly frame by frame help create an all time classic. What amazing designing and artwork to make these
Transformations look great and be realistic in real time and in real environments. All time Prime time SUPERHERO GOLD !
IRON MAN 2008 sucked ! (Ha ha bet I fooled ya there for a second)
INCREDIBLE HULK 2008 A much better attempt and film then the Ang Lee Directed 2003 Version. Ed Norton delivered a good performance
and the Hulk was much much better done this time around and not so well hidden like the first film did. They showed us him without playing a
lot of clever games. A fantastic fight at the end really delivered and action was present from the get go and it was not nearly as slow starting
and boring as the Lee attempt. It might not be Iron Man but what is? Tony Stark makes a appearance thou at the end with General Ross at
some low key bar to set up a possible AVENGERS Movie around 2012. Some minimal complaints I guess but this was still a really really good
must see flick at least once on the big screen and a must have dvd. HULK SMASH IF YOU NOT LIKE SO... SUPERHERO GOLD !
THE DARK NIGHT 2008 SUPERHERO GOLD !!! Maybe the best Movie ever! R.I.P HEATH LEDGER Who portrayed the best on screen
character in movie history. If you don't agree that's fine but it's how a whole lot of People including myself feel. Can you say 159 Million in 2
days RECORD SMASHER! Sorry Spidey you had a great run and are still our favorite web slinging buddy forever but Bat's kicked everyone's
butt and this is the gold crown of Super Hero movies maybe even of all movies period and lots of em.................................................................
